House Republicans, told to "behave like grown-ups" by Boehner, if the healthcare reform bill is passed
Lawmakers have said that House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, urged House Republicans not to taunt Democrats after the House votes Sunday on healthcare reform. According to the reports of The Hill reported, citing several lawmakers who attended a 15-minute closed-door meeting of House Republicans, Boehner told members to "behave like grown-ups" if the House passed the bill.
Boehner urged Republicans to avoid a repeat of what happened in November when the House approved healthcare reform legislation and some GOP members taunted Democrats seen as politically vulnerable for supporting the bill, said the lawmakers.
It was likely Democrats in the House will applaud if the bill passes, and they don't want Republicans to react the way they did in November when they started singing "Nah-nah-nah-nah hey, hey, hey good-bye," GOP leaders at the Sunday conference meeting said.
The reform bill is the beginning of the end of America, so directing taunts at Democrats would not be appropriate, said Rep. John Campbell, R-Calif. (With Inputs from Agencies)
