HP chooses to moniker Palm

HP chooses to moniker PalmHP supposedly has named PalmPad as its next name for the upcoming WebOS family of devices, according to a recent trademark company USPTO.

It was further added that the domain name PalmPad has been registered to a "palm pad online services" in Costa Rica, Central America since April 2001 and will not expire till April 2012.

It was further added that HP wishes to use the name for the following list of products such as: Computers, computer hardware, computer software, computer peripherals, portable computers, handheld and mobile computers, PDAs, electronic notepads, mobile digital electronic devices.

HP already states that it aims to offer a tablet device based on WebOS and there are even WebOS printers in the pipeline apparently.

It was further added that the name is more like Palmpilot which supposedly is considered as the first successful product released by Palm which soon be offered by the personal digital assistant era more than a decade ago.
