HTC confident of defeating Apple in patent battle

HTC confident of defeating Apple in patent battleA senior HTC executive has said that the Taiwanese manufacturer is confident that it will defeat rival, Apple in the ongoing patent infringement battle.

HTC has filed a lawsuit against the company for in a federal court in Delaware arguing that Apple infringed upon four of the patents it has obtained from Google. The patents were first issued to Motorola before its spit into Motorola Mobility and Motorola Solutions.

"We have no question that HTC will definitely win. HTC is waiting for a final ruling from the U. S. International Trade Commission and the ruling will be on our side," said Jack Tong, president of HTC North Asia in a press conference.

The USITC is reviewing HTC's claim over patent infringement by Apple. The authority has the power to block imports of products infringing upon another firm's rights into the US.

Apple is engaged in legal battle not only with HTC but also with other Android manufacturers including Motorola and more intensely with Samsung. Some suggest that the real battle is between Apple and its arch rival Google, which operates and manages the open source Android platform that has emerged as the most dominating smartphone platform ahead of Apple's own iOS.
