HUL CFO appointed as Unilever’s new senior VP-finance
FMCG giant Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) has announced the elevation of its Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Sridhar Ramamurthy to the post of Senior Vice-President (Finance) for global markets at its parent firm Unilever.
Mr. Ramamurthy will join London-based Unilever as senior vice-president (finance) for global markets on July 1, 2014.
The company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), "He will be part of the global markets executive of Unilever and based in London."
Mr. Ramamurthy is not the first Indian executive who has made it to a leadership role in the parent firm. Earlier, Harish Manwani and Nitin Paranjpe were elevated to the posts of the chief operating officer and president of home care business at the parent firm.
The company also revealed that P B Balaji, the Vice President of Finance at Unilever Americas Supply Chain Co, will take over from Mr. Ramamurthy as executive director of finance, IT and CFO at HUL.
The Board of Directors of HUL had approved Mr. Balaji's appointment as CFO of finance at HUL on March 11 this year, after the company's nomination and remuneration committee recommended his name to the board as replacement for Mr. Ramamurthy.
Since joining HUL in 1993, Mr. Balaji has worked in number of roles at the company. Previous to moving to Unilever in 2011, he was the vice president of finance for HUL's home & personal care business.
