Huntelaar not happy at Real Madrid
Madrid - Klaas-Jan Huntelaar's agent denied Monday the Dutchman would like to leave Real Madrid barely two months after joining the club, although he admitted the forward was not happy in his current situation.
"The lad has never said he wants to leave Real Madrid. I spoke to him and I firmly deny those rumours. He has never spoken about that. He wants to play and he wants to do so at Real Madrid," agent Arnold Oosterveer said in an interview with the Italian website Calciomercato.
Spanish sports daily AS reported Monday that Huntelaar had told his entourage that he wanted to leave, after being given few chances to play.
"I cannot stand this situation any longer. They have not signed me up for the Champions League and I do not play in La Liga. Juande has no confidence in me. I want to leave Real Madrid. I cannot take it anymore," AS quoted the striker as having told those close to him.
Oosterveer staunchly denied these allegations, but he did admit that Huntelaar is not going through good times.
"It is normal for him not to be happy, footballers always hope to play more," he said.
As to the possibility that the striker may not get on well with new coach Juande Ramos, the agent also denied it.
"That is speculation. When a player is not playing people always want to make a case about him. He is 25 and it is normal that he wants to play. But he wants to do so at Real Madrid and he will fight for that, to get Juande to give him more time," he said.
Real Madrid signed Huntelaar on December 4, but he has only played one game as a starter since Ramos took over the bench from Bernd Schuster.
The Spanish giant paid 27 million euros (almost 35 million dollars) to Ajax for the striker, a price that many Spanish media considered excessive.
"His outlook is very dark, because Juande does not like him as a striker and he does not intend to field him for many minutes considering how Raul and the indispensible Gonzalo Higuain are playing," AS said. (dpa)
