India has been credited with the great mathematicians in the history like Aryabhatt, Brahmgupta, Madhav and Srinivas Ramanujam however in the modern India the education system hasn't been able to produce world class mathematicians.
The government appears to be aware of the problem and thus the Minister of Science & Technology, Prithivraj Chavan has announced the setting up of an International Center for Mathematical Research.
More than 4,000 mathematicians have confirmed their presence in the event, informed another professor at the press conference. The gathering of world class mathematicians in the southern Indian city may raise some interest however it remains to be seen if the modern India is able to create Fields Medalists in the near future.
