Idea launches new Aurus 2 smartphone in IndiaIdea Cellular, the telecom service unit of the Aditya Birla Group, has announced the launch of the new Aurus 2 smartphone in the Indian market.

The new 3G Aurus 2 runs on Google's Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS dual and is powered by a powerful 1 GHz processor. The smartphone comes with a 3.5 inch capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixel and it supports dual SIM cards. It has an internal memory of 4GB ROM along with 512 MB RAM.

As for camera, Aurus 2 comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera with digital zoom and also a front facing VGA camera for video conferencing. The company said that it is aiming at the 2G customers in semi-urban and rural markets in the country who are looking to upgrade to the 3G network. The smartphone offers an easy access to Gmail and a host of other basic social networking apps allowing users to stay connected.

Sashi Shankar, Chief Marketing Officer at Idea Cellular said, "Idea focuses on bringing the best of 3G technology at affordable price to our subscribers, thereby maintaining an equilibrium between both cost and technology."

The new 3G Aurus 2 smartphone will be launched at the rate of Rs 6,490 in the Indian market.
