Illegal Data Collection leads to Raids

GoogleGoogle's Korea office was raided after it was reported of being raided for illegally collected user data by the South Korean police.

The search was based on Google "Street View" service data that was reported of being sent out. The raid included seizure of HDDs and other such docs using Street View Cars.

Street View service aids in helping Google Maps and Google Earth with panoramic views of the Earth. It was also stated that the search giant was probed for actions and lawsuits and thus aids in collection of data with cameras over cars.

Google was accused of collecting Wi-Fi data of several users in May, German authorities raised concern over the issue and Google Chief Sergey Brin, at the Google I/O conference, said, "We screwed up and I am not making excuses about it."

Google has pledged of not keeping any such information and deleting it at once.

The Korean National Police Agency through a statement said that Google is looking out for unauthorized collection and storage of data in case of Internet users from Wi-Fi networks.
