Various schools have taken precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the swine flu virus in children. However, the parents are still worried about their children due to the increasing number of swine flu cases.

Some schools have been shut for short time; while, in some schools, a section of students with the possibility of infection has been asked to stay at home for time being.

Schools who have NRI students have taken multiple precautions from sensitizing the students' parents over the issue to hiring physicians to examine the students.

The school in capital, where two class IX students were tested positive for the H1N1 virus, has shut down the section for a week as a safety measure.

Nearly 24 students across six schools in the capital were down with swine flu. In Panchagni, Maharasthra, 17 cases of swine flu were reported; whereas in Pune four schools were shut for time being as a precaution to stop swine flu spread.

Neelam Chakrabarty, principal of Delhi Public School, Kondhwa, said: "Of the total 3,000 students in the school, around 10 percent are from abroad and for whom travelling abroad is routine during summer vacations.

But, as all of them arrived long before the outbreak of the H1N1 flu in the city, we are not too apprehensive. Nevertheless, we have hired physicians to check our students and have been creating awareness among the pupils about the H1N1 flu."
