According to Health Ministry, a 23-year-old man, who arrived at Hyderabad airport on a flight from New York, has been detected to be infected with lethal Influenza AH1N1.

This is India's first case of Influenza AH1N1.

The passenger was traveling from Dubai to Hyderabad.

The man, who was unidentified, landed India on Wednesday morning. He was isolated after he was found to be suffering from fever.

A health ministry statement said, "He was shifted to the identified isolation facility under strict infection control. His samples have tested positive for Influenza AH1N1."

All those near to the man have been quarantined and their health is being watched.

"The office of the concerned airlines has been contacted to provide the list of passengers who travelled with him in close proximity. Information of such passengers would be provided to the WHO (World Health Organisation) and respective countries through the External Affairs Ministry," it said.

The riders are being suggested to remain under home quarantine for 7 days and check themselves for symptoms like fever, cough and difficulty in breathing.

They are also being asked to provide their contact details to Indian authorities.
