Around 13 more people lost their lives because of the deadly virus across India, taking the death toll of the country to 329. Out of the 13, Maharashtra reported 10 swine flu fatalities on Thursday, while two casualties were reported from Andhra Pradesh and one from the National Capital.

Three more suspected cases were reported from Gujarat, but the final lab examination reports are still awaited.

Also, a record 142 fresh swine flu cases were reported in India, which takes the total number of affected people to 10,375. Out of these, Delhi reported 39 swine flu cases, while Maharashtra had
35 new cases.

According to a statement, "Till date, samples from 43,421 people have been tested for Influenza A (H1N1) in government laboratories and a few private laboratories across the country and
10,375 of them have been found positive."

Other states where fresh swine flu cases were detected comprised Gujarat (1), Kerala (9), Karnataka (12), Uttar Pradesh (6), Tamil Nadu (18), Andhra Pradesh (10) and Haryana (12).

According to the reports, the latest case in Delhi is that of an 8-month-old baby who died of H1N1 virus. On Monday, the baby was taken to Hindu Rao Hospital in serious condition, and he breathed his last on Tuesday night due to respiratory failure.

However, the laboratory confirmation came on Thursday.

Dr. Anjan Prakash, additional nodal officer, Delhi government, said, "The baby was brought to the hospital very late and was immediately put on the ventilator. We have been asking people who are in the high risk category to report early."

"Parents should be more careful and if their children show any swine flu like symptoms then the matter should be reported immediately to the nearby hospital. Any delay can prove fatal," Dr. Prakash added.

With the death of the baby, the total number of swine flu fatalities in Delhi rose to 12.
