India thrashes Australia by 99 runs
Indian team led by brilliant century of skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has crushed Australian team by 99 runs in the second ODI match to take 1-0 lead in the seven one day international series in Nagpur on Wednesday.
Australian skipper Ricky Ponting won the toss and elected to field first on a well prepared track. Indian batsmen smashed Australian bowlers all-over the park as Indian team scored a mammoth total of 354 for seven wickets in 50 overs.
Dhoni scored 124 runs in just 106 balls including three towering sixes, while Gautam Gambhir smashed 76 runs before getting run out. Suresh Raina also scored quick 62 runs in just 50 balls.
Chasing target of 355 runs, Australian team kept on losing wickets at regular intervals as they bundled out on 255 runs in 48.3 runs. M Hussey was top scorer who scored 53 runs.
Ravinder Jadega took three wickets while Parveen Kumar and Ishant Sharma chipped in with two wickets each. Ashish Nehra and off-spinner Harbhajan Singh took one wicket each. Dhoni was declared man of the match.
