India wins over Zimbabwe in the 1st T20 International

cricketAfter defeating Zimbabwe by six wickets, India finally crossed the staggering start with its most deserved win over Zimbabwe. Indians showed up in the first T20 international with a quick 112 to win, leaving five overs with Yusuf Pathan and Virat Kohli.

Earlier, Indian bowlers showed discipline, bowling proper line and length deliveries, and restricted Zimbabwe to a meager 111 for nine. Paceman Vinay Kumar (3/24) was the most successful bowler, claiming three wickets, while Ashok Dinda (2/27) and Pragyan Ojha (2/11) chipped in with two victims apiece.

During India's chase, the powerhouse Pathan and youngster Kohli shared an unbeaten 64-run stand for the fifth wicket to rescue India from a precarious 48 for 4. Pathan's 23-ball knock was studded with two fours and three sixes while Kohli faced 22 balls with three fours and a six for his 27.

India once had their early match jitters as they lost Murali Vijay and Naman Ojha cheaply to paceman Chris Mpofu. Skipper Raina played a good hand along with Rohit Sharma to resurrect the innings but both were undone by spinner Ray Price. It became jittery for India but Pathan and Kohli ensured that their side did not end up facing more humiliation.
