India’ first lone set of quintuplets, to have survived, is doing well along with their mother. Generally in such cases, all five babies don’t survive and some of them die within hours.

Sabira Khan, 24-year-old woman gave birth to all babies in span of three minutes on Friday. The first child was born at 12:36 pm and the last at 12:39 pm. Each baby weighs around 800 gram. She delivered these quintuplets at the Kokilaben Ambani Hospital, in suburban Andheri.

Dr Suchitra Pandit, the gynaecologist who carried the operation said: "The set was conceived naturally. This, apart from being the first survivor set in India, is the eleventh all-male set and the seventeenth set of natural conception in the world."

It was a premature delivery and there was risk of complications.  But it went well as all the five boys and their mother is healthy. Out of fives babies, two are on ventilator while the remaining three are in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Ubaid Khan, father of these five babies, runs a garments business at Naya Bazaar. The couple has 10 months old boy. The father feels blessed and believes that it is with the god’s grace he has been blessed with five sons in month of Ramzan.
