Indonesia investigates fire at major fuel depot

Jakarta - Indonesian police were investigating a fire at a major fuels depot Monday in Jakarta that forced authorities to shut down the station and caused nearby residents to flee in panic.

The fire broke out at about 9 am and engulfed one of the fuel tanks at Plumpang oil depot in North Jakarta for about 10 hours, officials said.

The state-run oil company Pertamina said the fire at the country's largest depot was unlikely to disrupt fuel supplies to the capital and nearby regions.

There were no reports of casualties, but the blaze caused nearby residents to flee their homes in panic. (dpa)
