Indonesian stocks plunge 10 per cent

Jakarta  - The Indonesian stock market plunged by 10.02 per cent Monday, sparked by falls of regional and international markets as investors feared the US bail-out would fail to resolve the financial crisis.

The Indonesia Composite Index closed at 1,646.74, falling 183.77 points, or 10.02 per cent.

Dealers said the sharp drop was triggered by the falls of other markets and by scepticism that the US bail-out would resolve the financial crisis brought on by the US subprime real estate scandal and the implosion of the credit market. (dpa)
