'Injured' Warner confident of being fit for next week's first Test against Pak

David WarnerKarachi, Oct 13 : Australian batsman David Warner is confident that he would be fit for next week's first Test against Pakistan despite suffering a groin injury in the final ODI in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.

Warner left the field in clear discomfort during the 35th over of Pakistan's innings in Australia's dramatic one-run victory that rounded out a 3-0 sweep of the series in the United Arab Emirates ( UAE).

The big-hitting opener said that he would need to work with team physiotherapist Alex Kountouris but thought that the injury would not prevent him taking his place in the side when the first of two Tests starts in Dubai on Wednesday week, The Dawn reported.

Warner said that he hopes it is only a week thing, adding that he has had it before, three or four years ago and it's just like a tight strain. He said that he is in good hands there.

Warner said that he is all well and good to go, adding that captain Michael Clarke and all rounder Mitch Marsh were also tracking well as they bid to return from hamstring injuries that ruled them out of the one-day series.

The batsman said that both Clarke and Marsh are both cruising along very well, they're doing everything they can to be ready for the first test.

Warner said that Clarke and Marsh have been training the house down and added that he has seen them both running without a limp, so that's a good sign.

Sunday's victory over Pakistan was secured when Glenn Maxwell bowled a double-wicket maiden in the final over of the match to dismiss the hosts for 230 in response to Australia's 231 for nine, the report added. (ANI)
