Insat failure stops DTH connectivity

Insat-4BA technical trouble that developed in Insat 4B has led to the disruption of service to many DTH customers. All the major providers are facing trouble and as much as 70 per cent of the customer base has been affected.

While some channels are becoming tough to watch the others have gone off-air completely. The same is not the situation with the digital capable and IPTV customers who are enjoying their services as usual.

This is so because the two services are not dependent on any external satellite. Heavy rains and winds also did not affect the service. Experts believe that this is the biggest advantage that cable TV has over DTH service which are facing poor quality service because of the changing conditions.

Moreover, since the FIFA World Cup final is about to happen, the quality of service has made the customers even more angry.

Analysts say that such small things are present and in a way making DTH service non-competitive in front of cable service.

DTH service which came in India just two-three years back has seen many private players jumping into it but the sector has not made much of a progress.
