Intel Officially Unveils New Family of Processors
On Thursday, Intel officially unveiled the company's latest 32-nanometer family of processors at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The range includes the Core i7, i5, and i3 processors, in addition to the Intel 5 Series chipsets, and Intel Centrino Wi-Fi and Wimax adapters.
Chief Executive of Intel, Paul Otellini took the stage at the event to detail and discuss how computing is not confined to PC alone anymore, and is rapidly becoming more and more mobile, an advance which has been made possible through Intel processors.
"These advances are bringing us into a new era of computing where we have many devices per person and computing is increasingly [integrated]. We're focused on making all computing personal", the Chief said while delivering a keynote address.
In all, the company showcased 25 new products. The manufacturing of the new processors will begin in 2010, and these will use the 32-nanometer process, which looks to improve the speed of a computer and pull back the consumption of energy.
Christened "Westmere", the plans for these processors was first announced by Intel in February 2009.
