Internet giant Google is coming to your TV set
The search engine giant Google is now going to expand its kingdom from cyber cafes to the living room. It has announced to come up with services for TV as well.
It will be a new service from Google that is going to allow people mesh television viewing with surfing the web. Sony, Intel and Logitech are the partners of Google in bringing this 'Google TV" to the market.
The product manager of Google India Rishi Chandra has said that Google TV is a new platform that the company believes to change the future of television.
Users don't have to choose between TV and web; they can have both. So it will provide an all new experience of watching TV.
Google TV has the power of Google's Android software and Chrome web browser. Sony will come up with the web-enabled televisions for this service.
The set-top box will be provided by Logitech. This will route web content to existing TV sets. This product is expected to hit the US market by the end of this year. However, the price of the TV set and the set top box has not yet been disclosed.
