iPhone Blamed by O2 for Increasing Pressure on Network

iPhone Blamed by O2 for Increasing Pressure on Network Telecommunications services provider O2 has stressed that people across England are currently experiencing a major disruption in their services because of increased strain on the network, all of which has been caused specifically by the iPhone, among other smartphones.

Until last month, O2 had managed to bag an exclusive deal with Apple to sell the iPhone, which has been designated the most popular smartphone ever, across the United Kingdom. But the company has now said that there has been an 18% increase in data traffic since the beginning of the current year and this has caused major problems.

Customers have reportedly not been able to make or receive calls, nor transmit data on the carrier's network, without facing one problem or another.

O2's CEO has said that the firm has not managed to meet its "own high standards" and has apologized to all customers who are facing problems. He did, however, furiously deny that the telecom company has failed its customer base.

To deal with the problem, O2 is now reportedly investing about $50 Million across the London area and is in the process of installing additional base stations.
