Indian boxer Jai Bhagwan has started his campaign with a bang on the first day of the XXX Energy Drink Commonwealth Boxing championship at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium in New Delhi on Friday.

Bhagwan punched out Oratile Segokgo of Botswana 16-0 in the first round to advance into the quarterfinal of the 60 kg category. Bhagwan dominated his opponent from the first round and took 7-0 lead at the end of first round.

Bhagwan mixed good defense and well timed punches to extend his lead to 12-0 in the second round. Bhagwan did not give any chance to Oratile to open his account in the third round as well as he wrapped up the match 16-0.

Speaking to the media, Bhagwan said that he was nervous at the start of the match as he had not played against his opponent before and he was playing at the home.

Meanwhile, India's Balwinder Beniwal has gone down to Richarno Colin of Mauritius 5-14 in the 64 kg category.
