Peshawar, Feb. 7 : Pakistan’s Islamist political party, the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), has blamed both the controversial private US security firm, Blackwater, and Indian intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) for the continuous violence in Karachi.

JI chief Siraj-ul-Haq said both the Blackwater and the RAW were responsible for the wave of target killing in the country’s financial capital.

Addressing a press conference here, Haq said : “Like Kashmir is the backbone of Pakistan; similarly, Karachi plays the role of backbone in the country’s economy.”

He criticised the government for the violence in Karachi, and said it has failed completely to maintain law and order in the city.

Two bomb blasts within the span of 30 minutes ripped apart Karachi on Friday evening killing 25 persons and injuring over 100 others.

Over 40 people have been killed in violence, which had erupted on January 29, when some activists of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) clashed with those of the Awami National Party (ANP), and has engulfed the whole of country’s financial capital.

According to police, over 74 persons have been killed in political violence in Karachi since the start of 2010. (ANI)
