JIFF: Dilip Kumar gets 'Lifetime Achievement Award'

Jaipur - Padam Vibhushan and tragedy king of Bollywood Dilip Kumar was Sunday conferred 'Lifetime Achievement Award' for his contribution to Indian cinema.

Actor Anumpam Kher received the award carrying a citation, shawl and srifal (coconut) by the Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF) organising team, led by its founder chairman Honu Roz, at the inaugural ceremony at Golcha theatre here.

In her video message, wife of Dadasahab Phalke Awardee and actress of yesteryears cinema, Saira Bano said, "Dilip sahib will be very happy and feel to be honoured by with this award.

"Due to doctors' advise not to mingle with crowd, he could not come to Gulabi Nagari (Jaipur) to receive this very award. His health is good after recovering from pneumonia in the past. It is lovely to be honoured for all of us".

In his brief speech, Kher said,"Dilip sahab was our idol hero and I worked with him 3/4 films...In one of the movies I had received a slap too".

"By giving me his (Dilip Kumar) award to me, a heavy weight is lying on me...There are 30 years to go for me to receive this kind of ward," Kher said.

Also, JIFF conferred another lifetime achievement award to Iranian film-maker Majid Majidi for his upstanding contribution to the cinema.

Malika Ameen, actor of Iranian films, received the award on his behalf which carried a citation, shawl and srifal.

Actor Pallavi Joshi, Padmshri and film-maker Shaji N Karun, National Film Award winner Dr Biju, director Vivek Agnihotri among others were also present during the ceremony. PTI
