JSW Energy Q4 net profit jumps 49% to Rs 3.36 billionJSW Energy, the energy arm of the JSW Group, on Friday reported a higher-than-expected jump of 48.98 per cent in net profit for the March quarter.

The company announced that its net profit jumped to Rs 3.36 billion in the three months through March 31, as against Rs 2.25 billion in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.

Net sales jumped 10.93 per cent from Rs 20.36 billion to Rs 22.58 billion; while total income from operations jumped 11 per cent year-on-year to Rs 23.01 billion.

The company's EBITA was reported at Rs 8.58 billion in the fourth quarter of the last fiscal, up 40 per cent over corresponding period of the previous fiscal.

Commenting on the results, JSW Energy CEO Sanjay Sagar said, "JSW Energy has stood out as one of the power companies which made a reasonable profit."

N K Jain, vice-chairman of the company, lamented that the company had been giving good performance for the past three quarters, but the results couldn't be seen on the stock exchanges.

JSW Energy's Board has recommended a dividend of Rs 2 per share.

JSW Energy shares slipped 1.34 per cent to trade at Rs 66.35 apiece. A total of 794,596 shares exchanged at the Bombay Stock Exchange.
