Sydney - A kangaroo woke up a Swiss family when it crashed through the bedroom window of their Canberra home, news reports said Monday.

"I thought, this can be really dangerous for the whole family now," 42-year-old chef Beat Ettlin told Australia's AAP news agency.

Stans-born Ettlin said he managed to wrestle the bloodied 2-metre animal out of the front door of his house.

Wildlife officers were unable to find a kangaroo who looked to have sustained cuts from the broken glass in Sunday's accident. (dpa)
