Khade bags two gold medals in SAG

Virdhaval KhadeIndia's dominance continued in the aquatic events of the 11th South Asian Games (SAG) as India bagged four gold and five silver medals on the second day at the National Swimming Complex in Mirpur on Saturday.

Virdhaval Khade won two gold medals for India with breaking two meet records. Khade bagged gold medals in the 50 m butterfly and 50 m freestyle events.

Khade finished at the top spot with clocking 25.54 seconds in the 50 m butterfly category and broke his own previous record of 25.97 seconds in the SAG made in Colombo four years ago. Arjun Muralidharan won the silver medal with a timing of 26.15 seconds while Mohammad Anik Islam (26.21) of Bangladesh bagged the bronze medal.

In 50 m freestyle category, Khade broke the record of Sebastian Xavier (23.89) by clocking 24.42 seconds. Aaron D'Souza clinched silver medal and local lad Mohammad Mahfizur Rahman bagged bronze medal by clocking
24.53 seconds.

Speaking to the media, Khade's personal coach Nihar Ameen said that Khade has performed brilliantly in the ongoing SAG even after he has not taken part in any competition in last few months.
