Kidnap Case: UP Minister Agrees To DNA Test Of Adopted Child

Kidnap Case: UP Minister Agrees To DNA Test Of Adopted ChildAfter a woman from Deoria claimed that the adopted son of Rajesh Tripathi, UP state minister for homeopathy and religious endowment, is actually her child who was ‘stolen’ by him five years back.

Before taking any decision, the CJM court in Gorakhpur has now ordered the alleged impostor Pramila Vishkarma and minister’s son to undergo a DNA test.

Mr. Rajesh Tripathi has agreed for the DNA test of the kid.

“The minister is ready for the DNA test of the boy he had adopted,” Additional Director General (Law and Order) Brij Lal said on Tuesday.

Pramila said that she gave birth to a child on January 13, 2004 at the Gorakhpur Medical College. But her kid went missing after three days from the hospital.

Afterthat, she filed an FIR with Gularia police station alleging that Tripathi had stolen her kid. The police could not trace the child and soon closed the case.

The police gave a clean chit to Tripathi.

Then, the woman approached the Gorakhpur court that ordered to conduct DNA test of the child.

Tripathi who denied all charges against him, said, “On January 23, 2004, a day-old baby was found at Rampur Dhanwali area. Since no one was interested in keeping the baby, I requested the Gram Panchayat to hand over the baby to me. After all the formalities, the boy was given to me.”

Sub-inspector Ambika Tiwari, who came along with Pramila to Lucknow on Monday stated, “I have been deputed to help conduct the DNA test. We are completing the formalities”.

The Forensic Science Laboratory of Lucknow has the facility of only collecting DNA samples which are then forwarded to Bangalore or Hyderabad for testing.

Pramila’s DNA samples were collected at the FSL late Monday evening.

“It takes 15 to 20 days to get the final results,” an officer at the FSL said.
