Kosovo ex-prime minister Ceku returns to Kosovo
Pristina - Former Kosovo Prime Minister Agim Ceku, who was arrested last week in Bulgaria and later released, returned to Pristina on Tuesday, his spokesperson confirmed.
Ceku was arrested in Bulgaria on an international war crimes warrant issued by Serbia. The Bulgarian court released him on Thursday, but Ceku had to wait for Bulgarian authorities to take a final decision on his status.
Ceku's spokesperson in Pristina confirmed to German Press Agency dpa that Ceku returned to Kosovo.
Serbia sentenced Ceku in absentia for the murder of nearly 700 Serbs during the Kosovo war in 1999. Ceku was the top commander of the Kosovo Albanian insurgents who fought against Serbia.
After years of international administration, Kosovo declared independence from Serbia last February and was recognized by most of the European Union and the United States. Serbia refuses to recognize Kosovo. (dpa)
