Las Vegas Spa involved in Cryotherapy Death Mystery wasn't licensed to perform Cosmetic or other procedures, say authorities

An employee was found frozen and dead inside a liquid nitrogen chamber used for cryotherapy treatments in a Las Vegas spa. On Tuesday, authorities said that the spa didn’t have a license to perform cosmetic or other procedures.

The matter has been disclosed after the death of 24-year-old Chelsea Patricia Ake-Salvacion, who was found dead on October 20 in a chamber used for providing the quite popular but mainly unregulated treatments for pain and other conditions.

In an interview, Albert Ake, the dead woman's uncle, said that at the time of her discovery, she was rock solid frozen. According to Las Vegas police, the death doesn't seem to be suspicious, and the case has been closed without any criminal investigation.

Ake added that he was told that his niece sent a message to her boyfriend a night before she was found dead. In the message, she said that she was going to use the cryotherapy chamber at the Rejuvenice spa at 8846 S. Eastern Ave. He said that she was also seen on security video, when she was locking the salon.

Furthermore, Ake mentioned that his niece’s co-worker arrived the following day and saw the car of Ake-Salvacion in the parking lot and her stuff in the business.

Ake added that the reports have left him troubled. The reports said that his niece misused the cryotherapy chamber, or made a mistake. He said that he was told that his niece died within moments.

Ake said, “Something went wrong. It's not operator error if she died within seconds”.
