At least one dead in explosion at Pakistan bus station
Islamabad - An explosion tore through a bus station in Pakistan's troubled North-West Frontier Province on Monday, killing at least one person, police said.
The blast took place at Tirah Market in the garrison town of Kohat, some 65 kilometers south of the provincial capital Peshawar.
"One person was killed and at least eight others were wounded," a duty officer told the German Press Agency dpa on the phone. Another official at the city police chief's office said unconfirmed reports suggested the death toll could be as high as four.
It was not immediately clear if the explosive device was rigged to a vehicle or planted at the terminal.
Kohat lies near Pakistan's militancy-hit tribal region along the Afghan border and has seen several acts of violence in recent months. (dpa)
