LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgender) community brand ambassador and Bollywood actress Celina Jaitley hailed the Delhi High Court decision for legalizing homosexuality by striking down Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Elated with the HC ruling, the actress said that she was really happy and relived to see the change in the amendments.

Speaking with the media persons, the actress said: “With great pride and tears I would like to congratulate the entire LGBT community. Homosexuality is now legal in India. Our long battle is won and with pride can the gay walk with their heads held high.”

It may be recalled here that Jaitley had been stubborn in this battle and fought as a passionate campaigner for the gay rights.
 
Noted Goa-based fashion designer Wendell Rodricks was also one of those who welcome the Court ruling.

Rodricks said: “It's very good news. We have proven that we no longer live in a backward society. This is a victory for both the gay community and the lawyers who have fought for their rights. From now on, no one will be persecuted for their preferences."
