Due to the heavy floods in new areas in the coastal district, people had to move away from homes. The water breaches in the river embankments have increased with a shocking speed.

Local people reported, “The water around our village has been rising too fast and that's why we decided to get out.”

In the low stream areas like Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack, water level had been gradually increasing, whereas, the water levels of Mahanadi and other branch rivers have started moving back near Bhubaneswar and Cuttack areas.

The 61 breaches in the area is the reason why water is spreading all over and in all directions.
