Lily Allen admits her talk show was a ‘flop’

Lily AllenLondon, Dec 17 : Pop star Lily Allen recently admitted that her BBC show called `Lily Allen and Friends' was a major flop.

The singer revealed that although the show was badly panned by the critics, it helped her make a lot of money.

"It was a period when I decided not to be a singer or go on tour," the Sun quoted Allen, as saying.

"I made a lot of money out of it. Thank you, licence-payers - that was very nice of you. You think Russell Brand is your problem. Actually, it's me," Allen added.

Despite the fact that the show was a flop, BBC bosses have decided to go ahead and film second series of the show.

"I'm thrilled that we're going to make a second series. It's been such a laugh. I want to say a huge thank-you to everyone who tuned in to the first one and I can't wait to film series two," Allen said

A BBC insider said: "Not everything has to be a massive ratings success on the BBC. Lily's show was aimed at younger viewers who don't read newspaper reviews - or care about them. We were happy with how the programme performed and it was a good effort for someone who has never fronted a television show before." (ANI)
