Lookout updates its free Android app with ‘Lock Cam’ feature
Bringing on an awesome security program aboard its free Android app, Lookout Mobile Security has updated the app with a new feature known as `Lock Cam,' which essentially gives the users the advantage of spotting the exact location of their lost/stolen handsets and tablets, as well as having the culprit's picture emailed to them.
The new `Lock Cam' security program from Lookout is available for devices running Android OS version 2.3 or higher; and the users are required to set a pin code or an alternative locking pattern, for installing the Lookout program on their Android devices.
Giving the users three chances to unlock their Android devices, the Lookout's updated app `Lock Cam' - which can be downloaded from Google Play - uses the front-facing cameras of the compatible Android devices, to click the picture of the person who enters the unlock code incorrectly for three times in a row.
The picture which is clicked is then sent to the email address of the device's owner, along with details pertaining to the precise location of the device. According to Lookout, the `Lock Cam' app clicks and emails the picture and the location details in such a stealthily manner that the culprits have no clue at all about the happenings.
Though the `Lock Cam' app is currently available only for Android devices, Lookout said that it intends adding the feature to its iPhone and iPad app as well, though it presently does not have any timeline for the release of such a version.
