Man Quarantined In Kolkata With Swine Flu Symptoms A man, who came on an Emirates flight from Dubai to Kolkata in the morning, was admitted to the Beliaghata ID Hospital at Beliaghata with suspected swine flu symptoms.

The health authorities at the Netaji Subhash Chandra International Airport quarantined Shyamal Sarkar (35), a resident of Ranaghat, Gosainagar, for suspected symptoms of H1N1 influenza on Wednesday.

Dr. Sujit Bakshi, Chief Medical Officer of the Airport Authorities Medical Services, stated, “Nineteen doctors of the Central Government Health Department are maintaining a 24-hour vigil at the International terminal of the airport.”

It is learnt that a passenger from Dubai complained of “flu-like symptoms” including fever, headache, running nose and breathing difficulties.

The authorities provided him a mask immediately, and sent to the hospital.

Hospital authorities at the hospital told that Sarkar’s symptoms were not particularly suggestive of swine flu.

A doctor said, “His swab has been sent for test at the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) Delhi.”

The results are expected in a couple of days.

Health functionaries on duty at the airport stated that a cautious screening was being conducted on all riders coming from swine flu affected nations and major international airports like Dubai.
