Mani Cancels ‘Raavana’ Screening For IIFAMani Ratnam’s ‘Raavana’ may not be screened during the IIFA awards as was previously decided.

The truth that IIFA will take place in Sri Lanka has caused a contention for the South Film association.

Because of the responsive situation that resulted because of the civil War most Tamil celebs and top personalities have decided to stay away from the award ceremonial occassion.

Ratnam also decided to cancel the screening of his upcoming flick ‘Raavana’ at the award ceremony after the Tamil film society dismissed invitations from the IIFA.

There was an official confirmation from Mani’s office that his film had nothing to do with the IIFA.

Mani’s office and home in Chennai were also under the possibilities of being besieged if at all he decided to move ahead with the film screening.

Raavan, which is written and directed by Mani Ratnam, features Abhi, Ash and Vikram in the lead characters whereas Govinda, Ravi Kishan, Nikhil Dwivedi, Tejaswini Kolhapure and Priyamani play key supporting roles.

The film music is composed by A. R. Rahman.  The film is likely to be released on June 18, 2010. (With Inputs from Agencies)
