Maruti to expand its distribution network

Maruti to expand its distribution networkThe country’s largest automaker Maruti Suzuki is in no mood to let the competition take its markets share with ease as it is aiming to expand its distribution network by 200 dealerships by the end of the current year. It may be noted here that the company currently has around 800 dealerships around the country and it is aiming to take the number to 1000 by the end of 2010 fiscal.

Company’s Chief General Manager (Marketing), Shashank Srivastava, said that the company currently has around 800 dealerships around 500 cities in India and it will be aiming to take the number to up to 1000 by the end of the current fiscal.

Moreover, Srivastava also added the fact that the company is betting big on the rural growth story of the Indian market as its 17 per cent of sales were coming from the rural segment that was way up against the nine per cent in the previous year (2008-09).

The company also believes that the demand in the corporate sector will only grow in the coming months and is surely expecting to keep its flag flying high in the Indian market.
