MCI-Raise seats for medical students
Medical Council of India (MCI) has decided to increase the number of seats for postgraduate students. In this year it is expected that there will be raise in the number of applications for admission in postgraduate courses.
Previously, it was a trend that one senior professor will take only one student with him but now with the proposal to increase the number of seats, this ratio has been altered like ; one senior professor will take two students under him.
BJ Medical College has given a bonus of 71 more seats which makes a total of 250 seats. The Dean of this college said, "We consider that this year more applications will be submitted and for this reason students have to counter interviews."
There are an increasing number of students keen to pursue post graduation in Medical colleges but there are less number of teachers to train them, and this issue can be resolved only by increasing the teacher-student ratio.
