Mel Gibson has drunken driving charge expunged

Mel GibsonLos Angeles  - Mel Gibson has a clean driving record again. The Oscar-winning actor and director of Braveheart fulfilled all his court obligations stemming from his 2006 arrest and a judge on Tuesday expunged the drunken driving conviction from his record.

The incident itself however won't be so easily forgotten. Gibson was arrested while driving about 140 kilometres per hour while holding an open bottle of tequila.

The director of The Passion of the Christ then proceeded to launch an anti-Semitic rant at his arresting officer, reportedly saying things like "Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world." Though he issued an apology, he was widely criticized by Jewish groups who maintained the apology did not go far enough. dpa
