Michael Jackson glove sold for 350,000 dollars

Michael Jackson glove sold for 350,000 dollars Washington  - Michael Jackson's famous sequined white glove, worn at his famous first moonwalk concert, Saturday fetched an astounding 350,000 dollars at auction at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York City, Fox News reported.

The buyer was a businessman, Hoffman Ma, from the island of Macau, who told Fox News that he had come prepared to spend much more than that on the iconic object.

Julien's Auctions, which managed the auction of Jackson and other rock memorabilia at the Times Square restaurant, had given a pre- auction estimate of 40,000 to 60,000 dollars.

Jackson wore the left-handed glove in the 1983 televised concert that celebrated the 25th anniversary of Motown, the Detroit record label that brought black performers to a nationwide audience.

Jackson, who died June 25 at age 50, had given the glove to Walter "Clyde" Orange of the singing group the Commodores after the concert. Orange got the glove instead of the autograph he had asked for, Julien's said on its website.

The store-bought glove was covered with a mesh of rhinestones and became the trademark, along with his fedora, for the idiosyncratic Jackson.

Macau is a special administrative region of China that is governed autonomously. (dpa)
