Micromax and MTNL have launched India’s cheapest 3G handset- H360Micromax and MTNL, on Wednesday, have launched a new 3G-enabled handset: Micromax H360, which is claimed to be the cheapest 3G handset available in India, with a price tag of Rs 5499.

The new Micromax model is loaded with a fast network mode HSDPA providing speedy connectivity to the internet.

Mr. Rajesh Aggarwal, Managing Director, Micromax said that their top priority is to deliver the best technology to the users, and they have been aiming to provide Third Generation mobile services to the masses.

He also said that a 3G Mobile is still considered as an expensive piece of technology, but with H360, everything will get change. He added that there is a need for mass awareness regarding 3G as the journey of 3G has begun in India.

The Micromax H360 is the India’s first operator branded 3G HSPA handset. It will offer MTNL's 3G services- ‘3G Jadoo’ and will provide Qualcomm’s technology support.

MicroMax handset is equipped with features such as 3.6MBps HSDPA, Touch Screen, Mobile TV, memory card slot and email. The phone also has a 3 megapixel camera, and a front VGA-quality camera for video calling.

The new handset will be introduced initially in Delhi and Mumbai only. It will offer 3.6Mbps uplink speed, which enables the user to watch live Cricket, real-time news, Bollywood songs and videos, TV Soaps and much more through its Mobile TV application.

Moreover, MTNL customers can also enjoy video telephony and social networking with its applications like Facebook and Orkut.

Mr. R. S. P Sinha, chairman and managing director, MTNL said that they had a successful launch of the 3G-Jadoo service this year, and had received encouraging response from users.

With the launch of MTNL’s own 3G phone, they would have an ubiquitous service for the subscribers at an affordable price. He added that they are pleased to work with Qualcomm and Micromax to bring the best user experience to the subscribers.
