Microsoft To Roll Out Social Networking Phone In US
Software giant Microsoft is all set to roll out own cellular phones in United States later this year as it aspires to challenge the increasing smartphone supremacy of its main competitors Apple and Google.
The chandsets will hit the market by July exclusively on Verizon, the biggest cellphone carrier in United States, and will be directed at heavy users of social networking sites, said the report, which featured what it stated were leaked effigies from the cell phones marketing campaign.
The two handsets are codenamed "Pink" and "Pure", and will be made for Microsoft by Sharp, the report added.
The report came after the software giant in Feb 2010 introduced a new mobile operating system, which was widely appraised by technology experts.
Microsoft utilized to enjoy a top position in the smartphone ground but has seen its place severely eroded by Apple's iPhone, by the Blackberry and by several devices running Google's Android operating system. (With Input from Agencies)
