Microsoft Q3 Net Income Up 35%Software giant Microsoft said that the introduction of Windows 7 actuated its third-quarter revenue, which stood at $14.5 billion, a 6% growth from a year ago.

Microsoft's net income surged 35% to $4 billion as against the same quarter of 2009.

Chief financial officer Peter Klein stated, "Windows 7 continues to be a growth engine, but we also saw strong growth in other areas like Bing search, Xbox LIVE and our emerging cloud services."

Mr. Klein added that their record third-quarter revenue together with continuous rigor on cost management resulted in outstanding EPS growth.

Windows proceeds remained up by 28% as against the same quarter a year earlier, driven by sturdy demand for Windows 7.

The company said that over 10% of all PCs internationally are now running Windows 7, making Windows 7 by far the top-selling operating system in record. (With Inputs from Agencies)
