Mobile prices will reduce to average $100 in 2015

According to a recent survey, mobile prices in global markets are likely to fall by nearly 70% by 2015. As per the estimate, with increasing competition among manufacturers, in 2015, you can get any recent mobile phone for less than $100.

According to a study conducted by Knowledge Process Outsourcing firm Evalueserve "With the increasing number of subscribers coming from 'lower-middle income (LMI)' developing economies, the average size of the consumer wallet is expected to shrink."

As per the study, as the demand from this end of market is increasing, we can expect companies to target five years from now.

A lower-middle income (LMI) term refers to economies with maximum percentage of population falling in lower-middle income group like India and China. As per the study, these phones will not only be low cost, but will also offer several features to attract consumers. Evalueserve AVP (Information, Communication and Technology Practice), Nitin Navish Gupta said in a media statement that we are seeing a change in buying behavior. He used 'commoditization of mobiles' for increasing tendency among consumers to change their handsets.

Last five year data also support firm's evaluation. Average selling price (ASP) of Nokia phones fell by 39% between 2005 to 2009 while in Samsung case, this ASP declined around 33%.
