The Indian health ministry is leaving no stone unturned to contain swine flu in the country.

The ministry on Monday said that it would activate 16 more laboratories across the country and set up state-level rapid action forces of medical personnel to deal with the viral ailment.

Giving this information to the media persons, Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said, "Lot of arrangements have already been made. Passengers, especially from the US, Mexico, Dubai and Canada, are being checked on all the 21 international airports."

Azad said that the government has decided to come up with a numerous measures including increasing Rapid Action Teams, raising the number of laboratories testing the virus and improving screening at airports to check the spread of the deadly virus.

The Union Minister said that that the incidents of human to human transmission of virus was a cause of concern and the government is taking all possible steps to check the influenza A/ H1N1 from spreading. He stressed the need to remain vigilant and geared up to face any condition.

However, the Health Minister cautioned that there was no need to panic.

The Ministry has advised people not to visit the countries like the US, Mexico, Canada where the H1N1 flu has spread if it was not urgent and also report to the health officials any exposure or symptoms of flu like cough and fever.

It should be noted here that two persons had tested positive of the deadly flu in New Delhi, which included a 35-year-old man who returned from New York on June 2 and his 60-year-old mother. However, most of the cases are from the southern city of Hyderabad, which also reported the first case in the country.
