London, May 6 : China may have opened the world's longest cross-sea bridge, aiming to cut travel time between two major ports, but hundreds of drivers have been fined for driving too slowly – so they can enjoy the view.

The 22-mile bridge spans Hangzhou Bay, in Zhejiang province, and was designed to slash travel time between the city of Ningbo and the financial hub Shanghai from four hours to two and a half.

But since it’s opening on May 1, police have fined more than 300 drivers, most for driving too slowly or parking in the emergency lanes, causing serious traffic problems and a series of accidents, the Scotsman reports.

The 1.7 billion dollar bridge's sightseeing platforms in the middle span will not be ready for another two years. (ANI)
