Mozilla releases first beta version of Firefox 5

Mozilla releases first beta version of Firefox 5Mozilla has released the first beta version of its Firefox 5 on Friday after a month of the release of the browser in the cutting-edge Aura channel.

The new version offers improved performance and stability, the Firefox channel switcher and support for CSS Animations. The browser’s support for CSS Animations is still subject to formal approval from the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) standards group. It allows developers to add animations and make aspects more attractive.

The Firefox channel switcher allows users to flip between Firefox's three editions: Aurora, Beta and Release. The Aurora gets features at regular internals but eh features are taken down if they need more work. The Beta channel has a mere stable test build of the browser for public consumption, and Release id the final version for the customers.

The Firefox 5 also brings improved standards support for HTML5, XHR, MathML, SMIL, and canvas. The version also has 1,053 stability and other fixes, according to the company.

The final release version of Firefox 5 is expected to be available around June 21.
