MRF employees to go back to work
Employees of MRF are going to resume work from today. These workers are coming from three manufacturing units of the tyre major.
These workers had called off their strike through which they were demanding a pay hike and other HR related issues. The strike ended when the employees' union advised them to call off the agitations.
Two of the units are situated in Tamil Nadu in the Arakonnam and Tiruvottiyur units. Employees had gone on strike from Monday. The ones that were from the Pondicherry unit had been following sit-in from Sunday.
While the Pondicherry and Arakonnam had common demands and were asking for reinstatement of the dismissed employees and also wage revisions, the ones in Tiruvottiyur demanded the removal of CCTV cameras from the factory premises.
The president of all the three unions, V Prakash said that the council asked the workers to go back to work since majority of the floor-level workers had gone back and joined their daily jobs.
MRF's Tiruvottiyur unit's value alone is estimated to be around Rs. 800 crore and the capacity of producing 4,000 tyres every day.
