Music for peace and unity in North Cachar Hills of AssamNorth Cachar Hills (Assam), Aug. 31: At a time when violent incidents in Assam’s North Cachar Hills district have drawn nationwide attention, a Naga youth wants to promote peace and unity in the trouble torn district through music.

Isepung Newme, 23, is a Zeme Naga of Haflong, Lodi Village in North Cachar Hills district believes that peace can be promoted through music.

Newme is a cameraperson, director and editor of his musical album and using his talent to bring about change in the troubled NC Hills.

“My album that I’ll be working on will convey the message of peace and unity to the masses. It will help them understand the real meaning of peace and brotherhood where all people can live together like brothers and sisters. Till date I’ve made three albums, two are gospels songs and one love songs,” said Isepung Newme, artist in NC Hills

He has released three video albums so far that were produced with the basic equipment given to him by his father.

During his journey of peace he has encountered many obstacles, however, this has not stopped him from pursuing his dream.

He is currently working on an album, which will feature songs in different dialects of NC Hills to promote peace and harmony among various communities in the NC Hills. (ANI)
